This few days we witness more natural disasters around the world. The earthquake in China, Qinghai, has killed 1144 people so far, and exposed many others to the brutal cold weather. The lack of food and water, coupled with possibility of diseases, may cause further harm to these homeless.
At the other side of the globe there is the eruption of the volcanic ashes in Iceland. This resulted in many travelers stranded in airports around the world. The news reported that this is the biggest air travel shutdown, with 16,000 flights affected. Flickr / Yahoo has put up a list of photos (see link) of the active volcanoes. The pictures are pretty impressive, but I guess that is little comfort to those suffering inconveniences from the transport breakdown.
Seems like almost every month there is some big scale problems somewhere. Hopefully mother nature can grant some peaceful moments for the rest of 2010.
