What Do We Subscribe To?

Was reading this news article on AsiaOne about rich folks living in condo where the person lives in the entire 11 story condo apartment with only 3 family members. Then was recalling that just a couple of hours ago I saw at the road junction an elderly of about 60 plus years of age crushing drinking cans, putting them in a bag to sell for a living. Each crushed can fetches something like 5cents?

And I wonder at the income inequality here, where the rich get featured in the news with their riches with the official line for the rest to work hard...harder... longer... there was another article which says that about 1 person per 100 of the 4.5 millions here (which of course means the non-locals are included) are worth US$1 million each, housing not included. Heh one of these days I shld stop reading such articles... lolz....

Was also recalling a conversation I had with a non-Singaporean friend, who simply appreciate every living moment, with less emphasis on future achievements. All these make me wonder what do we subscribe to? I make conscious effort now to appreciate the refreshing views when I jogged along the Esplanade side (yes... occasionally i do jog :p ), but somehow can't shake off the feeling that I'm as trapped as everyone else in the rat race... somehow I guess the competitive pressure of this society is making everyone feeling like crushed drinking can...to be used to the maximum... zzz....

Reflective

Was having a reflective mood recently for past 1-2 months, which is why my colleagues were saying I looked a bit dazed.

hmm hasn't been thinking a lot...so it's not the thinking type of reflection... more of a blank blank type of reflection.... hmm guess there isn't any term to describe it.

Blank...or are things so obvious which is why no need to think? Which means... it is not a thinking issue... blank ... ahem... now I got confused... lolz. Thinking is not good sometimes...but don' think I wld still be confused... blank... lolz... such a confusing world... blank... such confusing dilema... blank... luckily got alcohol. o.k... nitez. blank.... out.

Greenwood Fish Market & Bistro

heard about this restaurant from a fren and decided to try the food there today. Place is not hard to find, but parking is. Ordered the hot seafood platter and it is awesome!!! Grilled prawns, lobsters (1/4 of one), calamari (real good ones... not those bread covered little sotong inside type), mussles, crab & squid salad with real crab pincer meat (not some shredded unidentifiable pieces)... and cubes of grilled salmon... the juices of all the seafood.... waaaahhhhh super shiok siah... ahem... gotta watch my health a bit i guess... bbq on sat, seafood on sun...

lolz... yeah... while waiting for the food, was looking at the tank of wild lobsters... looked fresh... seems like they have seasons for different catch... saw the guy cutting a big salmon (or do they all come in these sizes??)...maybe wld try their other dishes next time... their pasta looks good too...

heh but yah... price tag is also impressive... so watch your wallet... they got different promotions for different cards... hmm did a simple google search on 'Greenwood ave seafood' and found plenty of articles on that place... so can go google it if u want... :p

Lure of good music

Was at a fren's place for pot luck and while the folks are all cooking, I had a good time listening to the good hi-fi system DYI by my fren...

and that's when I got introduced to Norah Jones' Come away with me... with music coming from the hi-hi it's really really different... i tried listening to it using my headphones... music is still good but the depth of the voice vis-a-vis the music is not there... somehow the whole song sounded... 'flat'?

haiz but my room is too small to install hi-fi... lolz... hmm heard there are small good speakers... but how to make my room sound proof... else the music would surely disturb others when I listen to music at night... and of course the cost as well... lolz...hmm but imagine having a great hi-fi, air con-room, glasses of wine and plates of cheese, turn down the lights... waaaahhhhh! (and yah I just finished my bottle of caramel Baileys... means I have another bottle of original Baileys and another bottle of coffee liquer left...zzzz 2-3 more mths stock?)

oh and yah... I prefer Norah Jones' voice to others... heard a few more disc by other singers... hmm personal preference bah I guess...

The NDP website!

heh this NDP site is pretty cool with quite a fair bit of features (consumes bandwidth though so may be slow)...

Found the animations done by Singapore Poly...not bad. And they even have 'anchor bloggers' to blog abt the events...with blog battles... err the blog battle is somewhat cheesy as a concept... but prizes are again not bad.

Hmm and also got a separate website (there is no link on the main page that leads to this site wor...dunno why)... which got more stuff! Check out the mash-ups.... hmm and there is also the F1 drive through but you need Google Earth installed...
There is also a mash-up that shows the locations of all the IP Cameras... not sure of what use it would be... but I guess it helps others to create more mash-ups...

http://www.ndp.org.sg/infocomm/

No I didn't create any mash-up yet... guess I would but err mash-up of what...kekeke life story? A fren of mine did that... map mash-up of his life story, i.e. place where he was born, attended army (Tekong lah), worked, current working place...etc... hmm interesting siah.

Alcohol at my cubicle

mua haa haa... yesh I got a lot of alcohol at my cubicle... and a great variety too. Beer, sake, red wine, white,...etc. Hmm we do drink after work typically abt 730ish... rant a bit about work, more of community bonding...but less nowadays cos busy bah i guess...

Game & Music

Heh didn't blog for quite some time cos of heavy work commitments. So some of these wld be not so fresh entries.

Attended the Singapore Arts Fest concert of Play! And it is fantastic! lolz.... rare to see a full orchestra playing our favourite game music.... kekeke especially touching to see Mario Bros' game scene on the big screen while the orchestra plays the all-too-familiar Mario tune... big thanks to my colleague Ja for the tickets... lolz. Took a pic of the blue dragon mascot at the entrance.

That night attended the Granado Espada game launch at zouk... hmm wld have gone in the afternoon but afternoon got concert. The night event is only so so... thought they wld have played more in-game music there... Took a pic of the 'monster' at the door. GE is another good online game...good primarily cos of the music... excellent music actually...
